US Colorado Plateau – Grand Canyon
The Colorado Plateau or American South West as they call it, was on our travel wish list for a while. We had two weeks to drive all around, trying to cover as much territory as we could and making almost a perfect circle starting with Grand Canyon and finishing somewhere around Kodachrome National Park and Zion, before going back to Los Angeles. And what a fabulous time we had!
It was said that Grand Canyon is so vast and impressive that no picture can do it justice. Well, it is true but this didn’t stop us from trying! So, we were there at sunrise and sunset and all day long… 🙂 Only It was so damn cold in the morning!
Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world and provides the visitor with incomparable vistas. This World Heritage Site encompasses 446km ( for people like us that do not understand miles…) of Colorado River and adjacent uplands.
We were taking advantage of the hop on, hop off free shuttle buses that go all along Grand Canyon’s South Rim.
Big thanks to the friendly people running these buses, for sending another bus to ‘save’ us and another 5 or 6 enthusiast photographers still there after sunset!
I have to say, living in Australia, it was an unusual experience for us to have ice on the windscreen in the morning we wanted to leave!
Next Post: stay tuned for Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon!
